Late Night Viewing Sept. 19 - 23

A busy week on late night TV. You will need to set aside some time to see all the big performances. Would be even more, but I couldn't find Elbow on Fallon or Death Can for Cutie on Carson Daly. Performance of the week goes to Clap Your Hands, just edging out Wilco. Ready to hear arguments to the contrary.

New track sounds like Coldplay, sounds good.


Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - Same Mistake on Fallon Tuesday Sept. 20
The album is getting average reviews, but I really like it. Sure this sounds like "Country Yellow Teeth," but that was a great song.


The Decemberists - Calamity Song live for Carson Daly show Tuesday Sept. 20
Really a concert performance. The sound isn't great, but the song is.


Wilco - Born Alone on Letterman Wednesday Sept. 21
Can't wait for the album!

Tons of new stuff coming at me everyday. I have had no time to absorb any music, just a couple listens and its on to the next thing. We just got a DVD player for the van, so my driving and music listening has come to an end. My drives are now sound-tracked by Little Einsteins! Hope you like all the tracks this week.

Fungi Girls - Velvet Days source Guerolito Music
Garage music sounds great in the summer. I was listening to The Strangeboys a lot last week and now I find this gem of a band. You can hear another new track from the album by heading over to their Bandcamp page.

Black Whales - Lately source The Dada
Basic but solid rock music. Has that 90's alt-country sound and it works nicely. Nothing that blows me away, but will be a nice addition to the summer soundtrack.

Neon Indian - Fallout source Tympanogram
I was surprised when I gave this a play and was reminded of My Bloody Valentine, not what I was expecting. This new track still has the Chillwave sound you expect from Neon Indian but is darker and murkier. This early track will bring high expectations for the album.

This guy drops another smooth jam. R&B is very far from my wheel house, but this works because it has suck a tasty beat.

A return to form. Really love the song, but it does have a very similir beat to "Yellow Teeth." I hope the album can hold up, the short video clip below is like a royal sampler and it has some more good sounds on it.

White Denim - Drug source Gorilla Vs Bear
Nice and easy pop music with a touch of pscydelia. This reminds me of the Posies from the 90s with out any over the top guitars. Turn the volume down if you watch the connected video.

Great song for the summer. A nice drum beat and swimsuit theme. This is way cooler then anything I will do this summer. I think I'll write a sweet tune about going to Disney World.

Future Islands - Before the Bridge source Listen Before You Buy
I really like the intro to this song, then the voice comes in and I was caught off guard. I listened again and the shock was gone. A distinctive voice and good sound.
